The postponed convocation ceremony of the University of Lagos, Unilag, will now take place from May 8 to May 11, the Registrar, Dr Taiwo Ipaye, has said.

Mr Ipaye made the disclosure in an interview on Sunday in Lagos.

A week-long convocation ceremony for the 2016/2017 academic session was earlier scheduled to begin on Feb. 19 but postponed as a result of strike by non- academic workers.

“The university management is happy to announce a new date for the convocation ceremony.

“The schedule for the ceremony remains the same. The only additional thing is reception for retired professors, directors and registrars; it will take place on the last day, Friday, May 11, after Jumat prayers,” she said.

According to the registrar, Gov. Akinwumi Ambode of Lagos State will deliver the convocation lecture on May 8.

“The lecture, with the theme: “Inclusion: The Path to a New Nation’’, previously scheduled for Feb. 19, would kick-start activities lined up for the ceremony,’’she said.

Ipaye said that an opening exhibition and the inauguration of the 12th Vice Chancellor of the institution, Prof. Oluwatoyin Ogundipe, would, however, precede the lecture.

According to her, the main convocation ceremony will be held in two sessions (morning and afternoon) each day from May 9 to May 11.

She said graduating students for the Faculties of Arts, Environmental Sciences and Sciences would be attended to in the afternoon of the same day.

According to Ipaye, on May 10, award of first degrees, diplomas, certificates and announcement of prize winners for graduating students of the Faculties of Engineering, Law and Management Sciences will hold in the morning.

She said that graduating students of the Faculties of Basic Medical Sciences, Clinical Sciences, Dental Sciences, Pharmacy and the Distance Learning Institute would be awarded first degrees, diplomas and certificates in the afternoon of the same day.
Ipaye said that the ceremony would end on May 11 with congregation for the award of higher degrees of the School of Postgraduate Studies.

She said that on the same day, the Best Researcher Award and conferment of the Distinguished and Emeritus Professors would also hold. (NAN)

It’s clear there’s still a lot of interest in the lives and deaths of these two iconic rappers.Richie Knapp / USA Network
Notorious B.I.G. and Tupac Shakur were murdered more than two decades ago — in 1996 and 1997 respectively — and yet their pop culture presence has arguably never been stronger. Over the past few months, no less than three television specials and special series have focused on them both or individually with a fourth — the USA Network's limited series “Unsolved: The Murders of Tupac and Notorious B.I.G.” — running right now. (USA Network is owned by NBC Universal.)

Biggie and tupac

The series zigzags between the early 1990s friendship between Biggie and Pac — as they were affectionately known — and the pair’s later feud. Along the way, the audience also gets glimpsesses of the multiple LAPD investigations into the murders that occurred in the 1990s and 2000s.
During the initial 1997 investigation into Biggie’s murder, black cops were noticeably absent. When decorated white detective Greg Kading (Josh Duhamel) heads up the 2006 follow-up task force, it is noticeably more diverse, primarily thanks to Kading’s buddy Daryn Dupree. (Interestingly, Dupree's character is played by Emmy nominee Bokeem Woodbine, an actor who was also Tupac’s co-star in the 1996 video “I Ain’t Mad at Cha".

In interviews, Hemingway has revealed that a goal of the series was to humanize both Biggie and Pac, an attempt bolstered by the casting of real-life New York rapper Wavyy Jonez as Biggie and Marcc Rose as Tupac. As the series goes on, “Unsolved” offers recaps of the two rappers’ lives in depth. These snapshots allow audiences to experience Pac and Biggie sometimes stripped of their normal swagger and confidence. In these moments of vulnerability, “Unsolved” chips away at the toxic masculinity that was yet another factor in these young men’s deaths. Such personal glimpses, whenever possible, do help humanize these well-known figures. To this end, the inclusion of the mothers, friends and romantic partners devastated by the murders go a long way.

The issue of payment and non payment of tithe seems to be the order of the day on social media. Recently, senior pastor of Kingsway international Christian center(KICC); Matthew Ashimolowo in one of his services, gave his own opinion  about the tithing issue. In his own words:
Once and for all let’s settle this matter, on the power of the tithe. Some bunch of yoyo somewhere should not determine what you pay. Some guy who beats his wife, throws her out, throws his children out of the house, broke his son’s knees, should not determine what we believe. He drinks alcohol, sleeps with women and he’s trying to preach”
Replying to his comment, daddy freeze had this to say:

Haaaaaa! Has it come to this?

See the way he is defending tithing with so much passion, I hope this same passion is extended to bringing home our brothers who are currently enslaved in Libya.

I didn’t hear ONE single bible verse, just sentiments and emotions in this defense.

Who is this ‘Yoyo’ now? Mention his name make we know am.?and I hope there is proof to back these allegations up and they are not just ‘hear say’ from an false interview conducted on an embattled pot of stale bitterleaf soup.
He also mentioned in his long statement that;
If the ‘yoyo’ drinks alcohol, lets remember Jesus drank alcohol too.. he was called a drunkard by the Pharisees.. the teachers of religious law who burdened the people with unbearable religious yokes and put up similar fights when Jesus drove the money changers out of the temple!

A man can’t be seen drinking pap, Fanta or lucozade and be called a drunkard, can he?
The O.A.P's followers seem to be aggravated by the fact that the preachers seem to be bordered by his philosophy.

The Governor of Imo state, Rocha's Okorocha has recently unveiled an erection done in honor of the Liberian President, Mrs Ellen Johnson Sirleaf. This would be the second erection to be put up after the other one done in honor of Jacob Zuma. The Liberian president, elated about the erection done in her honor, went on to add that it would be a source of inspiration to a lot of African Women around the world. She mentioned this while speaking at a lecture on the topic “Women in Politics” at the International Convention Centre Owerri, adding that as a continent Africa has some good reasons to celebrate.
Many reactions have trailed this second  erection and quite a large number of indigenes of the state have established their annoyance at this act. Although some think it is an inspiring motive, others believe it is mere pretense and not worthy of glory. However, the Governor hasn't indicated any other intention to have another erection in the state.

Popular Wazobia FM O.A.P; Nedu, and fast rising comedian; EmmaOhMyGod, seem to be involved in some personal clash of recent. The speculations began shortly after an Instagram video was released by EmmaOhMyGod, in which he pleaded with Nedu to stay off his back, and also threatened hell if he refused to do so. He also mentioned that he wasn't one for social media brawls, however, he had reached his limit with what nedu allegedly did to him.
