Fiorentina’s Captain Davide Astori is Dead!!!

The match between Udinese v #Fiorentina has been called off after Captain Davide Astori's sudden death.
Davide Astori who turned 31 in January, became a father only two weeks ago. He died in his sleep awaiting the #Fiorentina game against Udinese.
According to Udine Today, the player failed to wake up this morning when he was at the La di Moret hotel in Udine on a training camp with the squad, awaiting today’s match with Udinese.

At first, it was reportedly to be a rumour, but now, Fiorentina have now released a statement this morning to confirm the news.
“Fiorentina are profoundly shaken and forced to announce that their captain Davide Astori has died,” read the statement.
“For this terrible and delicate situation, and above all out of respect for his family, we appeal to the sensitivity of the media.”
This afternoon Match between Udinese and Fiorentina has obviously now officially been called off.

There are now reports the rest of the Serie A games this weekend could also be cancelled.
Genoa vs Cagliari which is due to kick off at 12.30, and news of Astori's death arrived at Marassi during the warm-up, the players were visibly in shock. Some are in tears, while the rest have left the field.
