Manchester United complete signing of Benfica's Victor Lindelof for £30.7m

Manchester United have completed the signing of Victor Lindelof from Benfica after the defender passed a medical.

Lindelof, who has cost United £30.7million, arrived at the club's Carrington training base on Wednesday morning before signing a four-year contract.

The 22-year-old has long been a target of manager Jose Mourinho, who decided against a move for the player in January.

Mourinho believes Lindelof will add depth to his defensive line for next season, with the side competing in the Champions League.

Lindelof will be expected to help bolster United's defensive line ahead of the new season
'Victor is a very talented young player, who has a great future ahead of him at United,' added Mourinho.

'Our season last year showed us that we need options and quality to add depth to the squad and Victor is the first to join us this summer. 

'I know that our fantastic group of players will welcome him as one of us.'
